Previous evaluations concerning photosynthetic efficiencies of maize (Zea mays L.) plants in the field have shown inconsistent and contradictory data. In this work, we attempted to study photosynthetic O2 evolution through photoacoustic spectroscopy in intact undetached leaves of dark-adapted seedlings of inbreds and their hybrids. The results indicate that photosynthetic efficiencies of inbreds and hybrids can be differentiated by photoacoustic measurements of oxygen evolution, providing a parameter that might prove useful in evaluating plant genotypes. %N 2 %T Photosynthetic O2 evolution in maize inbreds and their hybrids can be differentiated by open photoacoustic cell technique %@secondarytype PRE PI %K MATERIALS PHYSICS, Heterosis, Maize, Zea mays L., Photosynthesis, Photoacoustic spectroscopy, Open photoacoustic cell, FÍSICA DE MATERIAIS, Heterose, Fotossíntese, Espectroscopia fotoacústica, Células fotoacusticas abertas. %@visibility shown %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group %@group LAS-INPE-MCT-BR %@secondarykey INPE-11251-PRE/6695 %@copyholder SID/SCD %2 sid.inpe.br/marciana/2004/08.31.13.56.23 %@affiliation Instituto de Biologia, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto de Biologia/CBMEG, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto de Biologia, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto de Física, Universidade estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto de Física, Universidade estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto de Física, Universidade estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) %@affiliation Instituto Politécnico, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, Laboratório Associado de Sensores e Materiais (INPE.LAS) %@affiliation Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados %@project TECAMB: Tecnologias ambientais %B Plant Science %P 177-181 %4 sid.inpe.br/marciana/2004/08.31.13.56 %D 1995 %V 104 %A Silva, William J. da, %A Prioli, Laudenir M., %A Magalhães, Antonio C.
